Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been used for centuries for good reason. It helps to alleviate pain and discomfort, and it boosts your immune system to help reduce illness.

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through your skin at strategic acupoints on your body to stimulate your nerves, muscles and connective tissue. Although it is commonly used to treat pain, it can also be used to improve stress management and boost your body’s immune system.

Your acupuncturist will use stainless steel needles that are sterile and disposed of after each session. He/she will determine which acupoints to treat and how many needles will be used. Once inserted, your acupuncturist may gently twirl or move the needles up and down. The needles are left in place for a time, often several minutes, while you lie on the treatment table.

Your acupuncturist may also treat the acupoints via touch (acupressure), light beams (laser), low intensity electrical currents (electroacupunture) or ultrasound.
